One-Size Pocket Diaper Comparison Chart

A one-size pocket diaper is defined by its adjustable outer shell; the diaper will adjust both in width and rise.  The shell of the diaper is usually two layers: an outer waterproof layer and an inner layer designed to pull moisture away from baby’s skin.  The One-Size diaper shell needs an insert to be absorbent.  Many one-size diapers come with their own insert but be sure to check with each individual diaper brand.  Inserts are also often adjustable to fit what ever setting the One-size diapers are being used at.

One-size pocket diapers have benefited the diapering family by offering both convenience and economics.  With most one-size pocket diapers a family can meet all of its cloth diapering needs for under $500.  Although these diapers tend to be a bit bulkier on a newborn baby than the Sized Pocket Diapers (diapers that are designed in Newborn, Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large sizes), average babies due tend to fit into these functionally well at birth and fill out into them fairly rapidly.

In terms of ecofriendliness, the one-size pocket diaper ranks A+.  Sheer manufacturing costs of just 24 diapers vs. nearly 100 sized reusable cloth diapers needed until potty training.  Or better yet compare to the cost to manufacture the 360 throwaway diapers a baby would use just in its first month.  Pocket diapers also dry quickly whether line dried or dried in the dryer.  Many parents will dry the diaper inserts (approximately 15 minutes for microterry inserts) and leave the shells to hang dry.

Top reasons people Choose a One-Size Diaper

  1. Two children in diapers at the same time: diapers can be used for either child somewhat regardless of body type.
  2. Older child who may potty train soon: parents get used to cloth diapering and then pass them on to a sibling on the way or soon to be.
  3. Parents don’t want to buy a lot of diapers: The same diapers bought at the beginning are the diapers you have at the end.
  4. Parents want to be economical but need convenience: As easy to use as a disposable, the OS can be an upfront investment but offers great long-term savings.
  5. Simple for Daycare/Sitters: You only have to explain this diaper once.  The child uses the same diapers the whole way and you can adjust them along the way without confusing caregivers.
  6. Adopted/Foster baby: Regardless of the size of baby these diapers are bound to fit.

Easy to use and trim for a one-size this diaper fits the average baby well.  An easy diaper to switch to from disposables. Leak guard at the front for added protection. Comes with a 14-day money back guarantee.

Diaper only comes in 5 colors. Diapers may not fit as well on very budha bellied babies. The small aplix tabs tend to show wear with time although they continue to function well.

Happy Heiny One-Size Pocket

$18.95

Includes 2 sized microfiber inserts

Microfleece

Includes one-size 100% cotton insert

S,M,L,XL

Advantages

This diaper is one of the largest fitting One-Size diapers in my opinion.  I recommend this for babies who have a parent who is fairly tall.  Fleece leg openings are gentle on really chubby legs.

Disadvantages

The fit of this one-size seems just a tad wider than other brands.  It seems to work best for thick bodied babies.

Mommy’s Touch Easy Clean One-Size

$18.95

No Inserts Included: recommend any one-size insert.

Microfleece

Microfleece Touchtape (hook and loop) or Snap

7-35 lbs

Advantages

This diaper has a pass through pocket so you don’t have to remove inserts before washing.  The hook and loop version can almost fit as small as you need it to.

Disadvantages

This diaper has to be folded down in the front each time to the required height making it less daycare/sitter friendly. The design of the hook and loop closure is easier to open and close for grandparents.

Tiny Tush One-size Pocket

$18.95
