RECOMMENDED CARE INSTRUCTIONS BY BRAND

Some products have slightly different care instructions from another. This can be especially true for initial washing instructions.  Products are listed alphabetically by manufacturer.

BabyKicks Hemparoo® Diapers and Doublers

Please wash your BabyKicks Hemp products, separate from any fleece items, at least three times in super-hot water with detergent.  After the 3 initial washes the should be absorbent enough to use.  However, hemp/cotton fabric will not gain its maximum absorbency until after about the 10th wash. 

After your initial washes, feel free to wash your BabyKicks products with other diapering items following our General Washing and Drying Instructions for everyday use.

BumGenius 2.0 One-Size Pocket Diapers

  • Wash pocket diaper and microterry insert once before use.  For everyday use leave the diaper snapped in the desired rise position, remove inserts from pocket then follow the General Washing and Drying Instructions.  Please choose a detergent that is pocket diaper friendly. Rinse well; ensure all detergent is removed from diapers.

  • Drying in the dryer is allowed for PUL and periodic mechanical drying can keep your PUL Pocket Diaper to function like new.   Many people choose to hang dry the pocket diaper on a regular basis and only periodically dry it in the dryer.  Microterry insert can be machine dry or hung to dry.  Medium heat is recommended why drying in the dryer.

(High heat over time can damage elastics; consider drying on medium heat.  Do not stuff your pocket diapers while they are still hot out of the dryer since this may weaken the elastic.)

The use of diaper rash creams can cause repelling for pocket diapers. For best results either place a small wash cloth on top of the fleece or use diaper liners.  Before using a diaper rash cream please refer to the Information Regarding Diaper Rash Creams.

BumGenius Deluxe AIO Pocket Diapers

  • Wash once before use.  For everyday use follow the General Washing and Drying Instructions.  Please choose a detergent that is pocket diaper friendly. Rinse well; ensure all detergent is removed from diapers.

  • Drying in the dryer is recommended for this diaper. Medium heat is recommended for drying in the dryer.

( High heat over time can damage elastics; consider drying on medium heat.)

BummisTM Super Whisper Wrap

The Bummis Super Whisper Wrap diaper covers can withstand the rigors of industrial washing and drying.  For home use follow General Washing and Drying Instructions.  For Aplix-closing diaper covers be sure to fold down and secure the hook tape before machine washing.  Many people choose to hang dry this cover on a regular basis and only periodically dry it in the dryer.

BummisTM Totes and Pail Liners

The Bummis totes should be washed warm and hung to dry.

Fuzzi Bunz Pocket Diapers

  • Wash pocket diaper and microterry insert once before use.  For everyday use remove inserts from pocket prior to washing then follow the General Washing and Drying Instructions.  Please choose a detergent that is pocket diaper friendly. Rinse well; ensure all detergent is removed from diapers.

  • Drying in the dryer is allowed for PUL and periodic mechanical drying can keep your Fuzzi Bunz functioning like new.   Many people choose to hang dry the pocket diaper on a regular basis and only periodically dry it in the dryer.  Microterry insert can be machine dry or hung to dry. Happy Heiny's and Happy Hempy's

  • Remove inserts from pocket prior to washing. 

  • Cold Prerinse. Wash on hot with slightly less than 1/4 cup of detergent (average amount for a top-loader and may vary depending on laundry load size and hardness of water).  Please choose a detergent that is pocket diaper friendly.

  • Rinse well; ensure all detergent is removed from diapers.

  • Drying in the dryer is allowed for PUL and periodic mechanical drying can keep your Happy Heiny functioning like new.   Many people choose to hang dry this pocket diaper on a regular basis and only periodically dry it in the dryer.

(High heat over time can damage elastics; consider drying on medium heat.  Do not stuff your Happy Heiny's and Happy Hempy's while they are still hot out of the dryer since this may weaken the elastic.)

Heiny Huggers

  • The fabric for these diapers has been industrial washed before manufacture.  So you can wash diapers just once before use. After initial wash follow General Washing and Drying Instructions for everyday use. Drying in the dryer is recommended for this diaper. Drying on medium heat is preferred to maintain the integrity of your elastic.

Imse Vimse Organic Diaper Covers

Imse Vimse Bumpy Diaper Covers may be washed in washing machine up to 60°C/140°F.  Follow General Washing Instructions. Hang and let Air Dry. Manufacturer does NOT recommend drying in a dryer.  This drying recommendation may be a European influence.  Europeans generally air dry any clothing that reasonably can be air dried.

Imse Vimse Wool Diaper Covers

Imse Vimse covers should be lanolized before use for them to function properly.  This service can be done by PinStripes and PolkaDots but would negate the return policy.  Of course, any manufacturer defects would still be covered. Wool wash products do not provide sufficient initial lanolizing.

When Imse Vimse wool diaper covers become soiled with poop.  First rinse/soak in cold water to release poop. Rub any stains directly with an appropriate wool soap. Then soak in luke- warm water with a teaspoon of Eucalan woolwash solution or my favorite a lather from the Sudz n Dudz Wool Wash bars.  Allow to soak 15 minutes or more. 

Remove from water and gently press out excess water. Do not wring or twist.  Roll diaper cover in a towel to remove excess moisture. (I have successfully spun the covers in the washer to release excess moisture) Finally, allow cover  to hang or lay flat to air dry. 

Imse Vimse wool diaper covers can be washed on gentle in the washing machine using an appropriate soap like Eucalan.  Imse Vimse wool diaper covers washed in the machine would be washed only with other wool items not with your diapers.

Re-lanolize as needed.  Generally, lanolizing is needed every 3-4 months with moderate use.  If cover ever begins to leek, relanolize.

Microterry Inserts

Wash once before use.  Follow General Washing and Drying Instructions.  Microterry will function better if dried on medium heat or hung to dry.

PinStripes and PolkaDots Wool

PinStripes and PolkaDots Wool products come lanolized and ready for use.

When PinStripes and PolkaDots Wool diaper covers become soiled with poop.  First rinse/soak in cold water to release poop. Rub any stains directly with an appropriate wool soap. Then soak in luke- warm water with a teaspoon of Eucalan woolwash solution or my favorite a lather from the Sudz n Dudz Wool Wash bars.  Allow to soak 15 minutes or more. 

Remove from water and gently press out excess water. Do not wring or twist.  Roll diaper cover in a towel to remove excess moisture. (I have successfully spun the covers in the washer to release excess moisture) Finally, allow cover  to hang or lay flat to air dry. 

Re-lanolize as needed.  Generally, lanolizing is needed every 3-4 months with moderate use.  If cover ever begins to leek, relanolize.

Polar BummiTM

Wash once before use then follow the General Washing and Drying Instructions.  Be sure to secure the Aplix-closures to the laundry tabs before washing. Many people choose to hang dry this cover on a regular basis and only periodically dry it in the dryer. Dry on low to medium heat when necessary. Do not over-dry or dry in an over-filled dryer.

Prefolds, Hemp/Cotton Inserts, and Hemp/Cotton Doublers

Please wash your Cotton and Cotton/Hemp products, separate from any fleece items, at least 4 times in super-hot water with detergent.  After the 4 initial washes the should be absorbent enough to use.  However, cotton fabric will not gain its maximum absorbency until after about the 8th wash. Cotton/Hemp blend fabrics will reach proper absorbency levels after the 10th wash.

After initial washing, feel free to wash your prefolds, inserts and doublers with other diapering items and follow General Washing and Drying Instructions for everyday use.

Rumpsters AIO

Please wash your Rumpsters, separate from any fleece items, at least 4 times in super-hot water with detergent.  After the 4 initial washes the should be absorbent enough to use.  However, Rumpsters may not gain their maximum absorbency until after about the 8th wash. 

After initial washing, feel free to wash your Rumpsters following General Washing and Drying Instructions.  Please close all aplix closures before washing. Please choose a detergent suitable for pocket diapers.

Stacinator Wool

Stacinator covers should be lanolized before use for them to function properly.  This service can be done by PinStripes and PolkaDots but would negate the return policy.  Of course, any manufacturer defects would still be covered. Wool wash products do not provide sufficient initial lanolizing.

When Stacinator diaper covers become soiled with poop.  First rinse/soak in cold water to release poop. Rub any stains directly with an appropriate wool soap. Snappi Baby Diapers

Please wash your Snappi Baby Diaper separate from any fleece items, at least 2 times in super-hot water with detergent.  After the 2 initial washes the should be absorbent enough to use.  

After initial washing, feel free to wash with other diapering items and follow General Washing and Drying Instructions.  Dry on medium heat since this contoured diaper has elastic.

Starbunz Diaper Covers

Wash once before use just because. These covers can be washed with diaper laundry but to avoid lint feel free to wash with baby's regular clothing. To avoid pilling, line dry or dry on low heat. Do not over-dry and do not overload your dryer. 

Starbunz Pocket Diapers

Wash the pocket diaper in hot water once before use with a laundry detergent suitable for pocket diapers. After use, remove insert and follow the General Washing and Drying Instructions.  To avoid pilling, line dry or dry on low heat. Do not over-dry and do not overload your dryer. 

Swaddlebees Fitted Diapers and Pocket Fitteds

Please wash your Swaddlebees fitted diapers separate from any fleece items, at least 3 times in super-hot water with detergent.  After the 3 initial washes the should be absorbent enough to use.  Because of the hemp absorbent layers, this diaper may not reach maximum absorbency until after the 8-0th wash.

After initial washing, feel free to wash with other diapering items and follow General Washing and Drying Instructions.  Dry on medium heat since these diapers have elastic.

Swaddlebees Fleece Covers

Wash once before use then follow the General Washing and Drying Instructions.  Be sure to secure the Aplix-closures to the laundry tabs before washing. W. Blooms

W. Blooms come lanolized and ready for use.

When your W. Blooms become soiled with poop.
